This workshop will build on the skills acquired in Catherine's Introduction to Oils course, but will also be fine to join as a beginner as there will be a recap of the introductory skills and guidance for any newcomers.
On this course you will explore 'colour beginning', a technique favoured by Turner, together with glazing. These techniques will enable you to create vibrantly luminous paintings that still have a strong composition and depth.
The day will include a recap of basic techniques and materials (probably a bit different from the ones you are used to), a step by step tutor demonstration of a colour beginning and glazing. Followed by painting a picture using the techniques with tutor guidance and finishing with a review of the day's painting and notes to take away.
All materials are provided, just bring a pack lunch and an apron.
